ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
Committed to Community, Dedicated to Progress.

DAN MONTANO
Zoning Board of Appeals
Dan has served the town well as a current member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. Having resided in Old Lyme for only 5 years, he has used his skills to assess all applicants’ requests and apply the regulations in a non-biased manner. He is also a participant in the Ferry Road Sidewalk project in Old Lyme. Previously in Wethersfield, CT, Dan served on the Board of Corpus Christi School. Dan is an active communicant at Christ the King Church. He has a son, a daughter and 2 granddaughters. Now retired from pharmaceutical sales after 41 years, Dan believes he now has more time to give back to his community. “I will always listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision”. This is the trust and fairness our residents deserve.
ROD CLINGMAN
Zoning Board of Appeals Alternate
Rod is a 19-year resident of Old Lyme. He has been a member of the Old Lyme Republican Town Committee for three years. His other volunteer work extends back over the years and includes Eagle Scout Advisor and mentor (Fairfield, CT) and participation in the Community Gardens effort at St. Ann’s Church. For 25 years, Rod has been an insurance industry professional. His affable demeanor and attention to detail is part and parcel of his success — both in the for-profit and not- for profit sectors. On his candidacy for office, Rod believes “that small towns require volunteerism.” He is ready to step up and participate!

CHRIS KERR
Zoning Board of Appeals Alternate
Chris Kerr has served the Town of Old Lyme for over 15 years, most recently as Second Selectman. While increasing work obligations prevent Chris from seeking another term as Selectman, he remains steadfast in his commitment to serve and is therefore seeking an Alternate position on Zoning Board of Appeals. He formerly served on the Finance and Planning Commissions. Chris has been active in the Old Lyme Fire Department for over 30 years. A life-long resident, Chris is a small business owner of a real estate appraisal company and construction contracting firm. His significant municipal management background coupled with his professional experience will allow him to hit the ground running on ZBA. If asked, Chris will tell you how much he appreciates where we live and he will honor his responsibility to “maintain local control” of issues facing its residents. The scope and depth of his knowledge in municipal matters is an asset not to be overlooked!

SHERRY JOHNSTON
Zoning Board of Appeals Alternate
Sherry is an incumbent seeking re-election to ZBA. An Old Lyme resident for 12 years, Sherry is a retired small business owner who has an extensive record of volunteerism in her previous hometowns. She has been recognized for her fund-raising successes among several non-profits including the #4 nationally ranked charity benefit, Prevent Cancer Foundation (Washington DC); the Pembroke Hill Women’s PTA and the Shawnee Mission East PTA (Kansas City); and the Monroe PTA, Monroe Junior Women’s League, and the Congregational Church, Superintendent of Sunday School, Monroe (CT). Sherry is an artist and painter with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Cleveland Institute and regularly contributes her time locally to the Florence Griswold Museum, the Phoebe Noyes Library, the Lyme Art Academy, the Lyman Allyn Museum, and the Ivoryton Playhouse. She is very conscientious about zoning rules and regulations and fully supports local control. Re-electing Sherry gives everyone a solid community voice on ZBA.
