MICHAEL PRESTI

Mike is currently an 8th grade social studies teacher at Interdistrict School for Arts and Communication (ISAAC) in New London. Previously he taught at Teachers’ Memorial Middle School in Norwich. Mike has also taught a leadership course and was guidance counselor to cadets while in the US Coast Guard.

 

Other career highlights: 

Prior to his teaching career, Mike served his country in the US Coast Guard as a navigator, retiring in 2019. 

 

Education:

B.S., Criminology/Sociology, Southern CT State University

M.S., Education, Sacred Heart University

​

Personal:

  • Mike and his wife Allyson have two daughters: one has graduated from Region 18 and one is currently an LOLHS student. 

  • They have lived in Old Lyme since 2007

  • Avid boater on Long Island Sound

 

Civic contributions:

Co-chair of Old Lyme Harbor Management Commission

SUZANNE THOMPSON  (incumbent)

Suzanne has been a member of the Region 18 Board of Education since 2019, where she is serving as secretary and Chair of the BOE Communication Committee.  She is passionate about keeping and requiring the high quality of education in Region 18 schools.

 

Other career highlights: 

Suzanne has held high-level management positions as a professional in communications and public policy. These positions have been in large corporations, small entrepreneurial businesses, nonprofit organizations, and on Capitol Hill.

 

Education: 

B.S., Horticulture and Journalism, Kansas State University

M.A., International Affairs,  George Washington University

Personal: 

Married to Brent Thompson and they have two daughters, one in college and another who is currently an LOLHS student.  Suzanne and her family have lived in Old Lyme since 2002.

 

Civic contributions:

  • Four years on the Region 18 BOE

  • Secretary of the Region 18 BOE

  • Chair of the Region 18 BOE Communications Committee

  • Member of Old Lyme Solid Waste & Recycling Committee

  • Former LOL Girl Scout Troop Leader

  • Co-leader of Pollinate Old Lyme

  • Active member of Duck River Garden Club

STEVE WILSON (incumbent)

Steve has been a member of the Old Lyme Board of Education since 2021 and serves as the Chairman of the BOE and Chair of the Region 18 PreK–8 Building Committee.  In addition, Steve serves on the Policy & Communications Committee and Facilities & Facilities Committee for BOE.

 

Other career highlights:

Steve has a strong career background in computer and information technology, culminating as Director of Technology for Baron Capital, NYC

 

Education:

Graduate of SUNY Stony Brook.

​

 

Personal:

Married to Jan Wysocki for over 25 years and they have two children who graduated from Region 18 schools.  They have lived in Old Lyme since 2006.

 

Civic contributions:

  • Member and Chairman of OL BOE since 2019

  • Chairman of Region 18 PreK-8 Building Committee

  • Serves as stewardship liaison, St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, OL

  • Past Old Lyme Country Club Board of Directors
