TAX COLLECTOR

SUZANNE THOMPSON

Suzanne has a broad professional background in communications and public policy, including a high-level position in a Federal financial regulatory agency. Since January of 2023, she has been working in the Old Lyme Tax Collector’s office, administering the town’s revenue collection, billing, collecting, depositing, and maintaining the town’s tax revenue and tax records. She has worked closely with long-time tax collector Judy Tooker. This fall, she will start the Certified Connecticut Municipal Collection (CCMC) program, which is the state’s training series for municipal tax collector professionals. Suzanne is committed to maintaining Old Lyme’s admired 99% tax collection rate and improving the taxpayer's experience with multiple payment options.

Suzanne has held high-level management positions in large corporations, small entrepreneurial businesses, nonprofit organizations, and in the federal government in Washington, DC.

B.S., Horticulture and Journalism, Kansas State University
Master’s degree, International Affairs, George Washington University

Personal: She and her husband Brent Thompson have two daughters, one in college and the other an LOLHS student. Suzanne and her family have lived in Old Lyme since 2002.
